A Year of Growth, Gratitude, and Community Resilience

As we bid farewell to 2023, Seeds Worth Sowing reflects on a year of growth, community resilience, and the profound impact made possible by our incredible funders and community partnerships. In the spirit of gratitude, we want to share the highlights of our journey and express our heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support that has allowed us to continue serving Black and Brown families in our community.

At Seeds Worth Sowing, our mission is to build a community where Black and Brown families have the tools to stand in their collective power, creating lives that they want, need, and deserve. We understand that dismantling isolation is key to achieving this goal.

Cultivating Community Connection

In 2023, Seeds Worth Sowing launched our first ever cohort to the Safety Network Building Program, welcoming five families into a transformative journey. Focused on dismantling isolation and connecting families to resources for their stability, this pilot initiative provided a safe haven for Black and Brown parents and caregivers to connect, share, and grow together.

Participants not only received vital resources like $1,500 stipends but also experienced the power of community care and connection. The program's success lies in the creation of a safe space where families not only found support but also honed essential skills of parenting, self care and resilience.

The Safety Network Building Program marked a meaningful step toward our mission of empowering families to stand in their collective power, fostering lives they want, need, and deserve. This inaugural effort's success is a testament to the strength of community and the profound impact that collective support can have on individual journeys, in turn strengthening our neighborhoods.

Economic Support that Matters

In 2023, despite a period of deep reflection and operational refinement to combat burnout, Seeds Worth Sowing extended its impact, thanks to our generous funders, individual donors and community partners. We provided $35,000 in financial aid and Caregiver supply bundles, benefiting over 95 families. As a cornerstone of our mission, economic support remains pivotal in empowering families on their journey to overall stability.

Housing Navigation Support for Stability

We recognize the fundamental importance of stable housing in fostering resilient communities. Our Root of Issues program has been instrumental in guiding families through the complex landscape of housing challenges. With the support of our funders, we were able to expand our efforts, ensuring that over 100 families found the housing stability they needed for a brighter future.

Building Community Through Mutual Aid

Mutual aid is at the heart of our community-building efforts. In 2023, Seeds Worth Sowing continued to cultivate a sense of interconnectedness among community members. From organizing community events to facilitating resource-sharing initiatives, mutual aid has been a powerful force for creating a supportive network that transcends individual challenges.
