Shifting our Focus…

Love is the seed of all hope. It is the enticement to trust, to risk, to try, to go on.
— Gloria Gaither

We are excited to share a new shift in our organization. As you all know, we’ve been a resource for Twin Cities families of all backgrounds, such as those are low-income, undocumented, single parenting or who are searching for overall support for their current circumstances in life. We want to be clear that we will continue to be a resource for those families and still will have all our programs centered tpo them as well.

However, we will be shifting our focus on emphasizing our care towards supporting mothers and caregivers who are experiencing or have experienced a high level of carceral violence. Which can mean being formerly incarcerated, in a neighborhood with high police surveillance, or in some way impacted by the legal system. Oftentimes, many of our families have intersections of experiences with high carceral violence and also being low income, undocumented, or survivors of interpersonal violence.

As a part of our commitment of being mutual-aid based for our programming and operating with an abolitionist lens, we believe this focus is in alignment with our core values and actions on how we choose to participate in the liberation movement here in Minnesota.

In truth, this small shift does not change much of what we are currently doing. We are sharing this update because we fundamentally believe in transparency and open communication with those who support our work or those who reference our organization as a tool to support them.

As always, we thank all of you for being alongside us as we continue to uplift our community members and work towards a liberating world.

With love,

Seeds Worth Sowing Team
